snack

We believe that eating together is a very valuable experience for the children, and also an opportunity for them to sit together at a table and try new foods. We therefore offer a healthy snack, where children can sit together with friends, pour themselves a drink and have a ‘bite to eat’ before returning to their play. We promote children’s oral health through snack, talking to the children about how food and drink affect our teeth.

We don’t have a designated ‘snack time’, as we feel this interrupts the children’s play. Instead, snack is available all the time so that when children feel peckish or thirsty, they can help themselves. As well as helping to prepare the snack each day, children are also encouraged to help wash the glasses and plates from snack, learning to take responsibility and ownership.

To make this brilliant opportunity possible and cover the cost of the food we buy to eat, we ask for a contribution of £1 a week for 15 hour children.

For 30hour children, snack is included in the daily fee of £5 to cover lunch, snacks and the additional hour at lunch club.

Snack money is payable via Parent Pay.
